How to get your official travel history

Citizenship and settlement applications ask for every trip you have taken. Here is how to get the official entry and exit records each country holds, usually for free.

Quick answer

US: view your I-94 travel history online from CBP. UK: make a free subject access request to the Home Office. Canada: request a CBSA travel history through the ATIP portal. Australia: request international movement records from Home Affairs. New Zealand: send form NZCS 150 to Customs.

United States: I-94 travel history

US Customs and Border Protection lets you view your recent arrival and departure history online, free and instantly, on the I-94 website. Choose "View Travel History" and enter your passport details. It's the quickest way to check your trips for Form N-400. Departure records depend on airline and land-border data, so a trip may occasionally be missing. Cross-check against your passport stamps.

United Kingdom: subject access request

You can ask the Home Office for the records it holds about you with a subject access request (SAR). It's free and the Home Office normally responds within one month. A basic request covers your immigration history and travel history. The UK only started recording exits systematically in April 2015, so older departures may be missing.

Canada: CBSA travel history report

Request your entry (and where available, exit) records from the Canada Border Services Agency through the government's online ATIP portal. Make a personal information request, choose CBSA, and describe the date range you need. It's free for your own records, and CBSA aims to respond within 30 days. Exit records for older trips can be incomplete.

Australia: international movement records

The Department of Home Affairs keeps a record of every arrival and departure. Request yours online with the Request for international movement records form, attaching a copy of photo ID. The old Form 1359 has been retired. Records before 1981 are held by the National Archives.

New Zealand: Customs travel movements

New Zealand Customs holds arrival and departure records from the early 1990s onward. Request your own records under the Privacy Act using form NZCS 150, with a copy of your passport photo page or driver licence.

Schengen Area

There is no single travel history for past Schengen trips. The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES), running since October 2025, now records non-EU travellers' entries and exits digitally. For earlier trips, rebuild your history from passport stamps, boarding passes, airline account histories, hotel bookings and card statements.

Then check the numbers

Once you have your dates, paste them into the matching calculator. Every AbroadDays calculator has a "Paste many" option that takes a list of dates in one go:
